Full Coverage Auto Insurance
Despite its costs there are multiple benefits of full coverage auto
insurance. In fact, if an accident should occur, full coverage can be less
expensive than its cheaper counterparts. When weighing the benefits of full
coverage auto insurance a person must consider the type and number of vehicles
to be insured; the amount of driving which will be done; and the income and
assets of the person to whom the vehicle is registered.
For some, minimum insurance coverage may be appropriate. People who operate
older vehicles, don't drive much and have limited income and few assets may do
well with less auto coverage. For most car owners, though, the wisest choice is
to purchase the best car insurance that they can reasonably afford. Those who
drive a late model car are urged to buy nothing less than full coverage auto
insurance. This means that vehicle policies must be written for both liability
and collision insurance; without collision coverage, a vehicle owner will
receive no payment for his vehicle if it is damaged in an accident which he
caused.
Small benefits of full coverage auto coverage can include being spared the
expense of having to pay to have a damaged car towed. Full coverage auto
insurance also generally includes car rental services when a car is damaged,
which eliminates the inconvenience of having to depend on a family member,
friend or public transportation to get to work. Other incidental benefits of
full coverage auto insurance may be the possibility of receiving discounts on
the auto coverage itself or on other coverage which is supplied by the same
carrier. For example, someone who has his cars, home and life insurance all
covered by the same insurance company may receive substantial discounts on one
or all aspects of the coverage. However, to qualify for discounts of this type
it is generally required that all policies be written for full coverage.
Other significant benefits of full coverage auto insurance are the security and
peace of mind which are derived from un-insured driver insurance. Being the
victim of a driver who has no car insurance can be extremely expensive.
Un-insured driver insurance lessens the out-of-pocket costs incurred by the
owner of the car that was hit and also prevents the policy holder's premium from
going up due to a claim. Most un-insured driver insurance also applies to
accidents which occur due to hit and run accidents.
Perhaps the most important benefit of full coverage auto insurance is the
protection it provides for the assets of the car's registered owner. Many people
are not aware that when a car is involved in an accident the person registered
as the owner of the vehicle can be held financially responsible for all property
damages and all bodily injuries. If the damages or injuries exceed the value of
the insurance policies, the property owners or injury victims may then sue the
vehicle owner. When a policy owner is found to be at fault it is possible that
his/her assets can be attached. In the event that the accident resulted in
extensive damages or long term physical disability, even the future earnings of
the vehicle owner can be at risk. By carrying full coverage auto insurance, a
driver doesn't have to bear the cost of such an accident on his/her own.
