by California Car Insurance on April 20, 2010

I read recently that 47 % of cited / stopped Drivers in California have NO License, NO Insurance, and NO Registration for the
vehicle (of that 47 %, over 92 % were illegals). I am just wondering what the penalties are if you are caught driving without car insurance?

They’re HUGE and your car can be impounded on the spot.

Well, it depends on the mood of the cop that stops you. Technically, your car can be impounded and you can be arrested. That’s if you cop an attitude, and the cop is having a really bad day.

MOST of the time, you get a ticket.

Here in Houston, the cops aren’t allowed to ASK if you’re legal or illegal, and we have the same problem you’re describing – a LARGE number of illegals, breaking yet ANOTHER law – no surprise, right? But no resources to deport them, or arrest them, and if they give a fake name/address, the ticket does nothing except harass the post office.

Your 47% statistic is absolutely ridiculous. Don’t believe all the nonsense you read.

If you have no insurance in California, you will have to pay a large fine and potential prison time. Your car may also be impounded and you will lose your license.

Driving without car insurance site might put you in prison because it is punishable by law, it will also cause you a big fine and might confiscation of your driver’s license. You can try to visit this cheap car insurance site http://www.nightbirdssolutions.com for some car insurance companies that you can use if ever you want to have your own car insurance.
