look for no name places a few phone calls
any name you have seen on tv or heard of wil be high
i have dairy land insurance 300 about a year what i pay for on bike car and van
call a few local places one that dont have a big name brand

The state of California does indeed have a special low cost car insurance program, “California Low Cost Automobile Insurance Program (CLCA)” it’s provided by an insurer pool, the main requirements are a decent driving record and an income below limits listed in a table.
This program was at risk of terminating at the end of 2009, I don’t have the definitive word of it’s renewal, but the state insurance department web site still offers the program.
