you have to have AAA membership to buy the insurance although sometimes once you have insurance they might not make you renew your membership because is 2 different departments but technically you can’t have insurance and not have a membership and the discounts only apply when you show your card your membership card that in CA starts w/004 not your insurance card which starts with different digits/letters
